The eco-village

Concept

The aim is to create a family-friendly sustainable eco-environment in which you can play an active role. A collaborative initiative between all Green Welly Monster members, we will learn, create and experience "The Good Life". We will be as self-sufficient as possible using what we grow, the animals we keep and locally sourced produce for the rest. We will reduce our carbon footprint by using renewable energy and compost, reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. Everything will be fresh, healthy, free-range and organic. We will plant it, grow it, pick it, cook it and eat it. We will forage for wild mushrooms and collect wild berries. We will build eco-huts and stay in them. We will discuss green issues, increase our knowledge and meet like-minded individuals. Above all, we will have fun.

Location

The eco-village will be located at the Community Land Trust farm in Cheshire and at other Green Welly Monster farms throughout the country.

Accommodation

The accommodation at the eco-village will comprise:

• Farmhouse accommodation (B&B style)
• Dorm style accommodation – converted barn/stables
• Eco-huts – available once they are built
• Caravan and camping accommodation

There will be a number of projects taking place at the eco-village and anyone can volunteer to become a project leader to head up a specific project. These will include:

• Rainwater collection
